A written examination for the position of Firefighter/Paramedic will be administered to eligible
candidates on Saturday, February 9, 2008. The examination will begin promptly at 0900 hours, and
no one will be permitted into the examination room after 0900 hours. Failure to be on time for the
written exam will immediately stop your hiring process. This examination will last two+ hours and
take place in the Flex Room at the Evendale Recreation Department. The Flex Room is located
across campus from the fire station. Evendale Fire Department personnel will be available for
directions.
Picture identification (preferably a driver's license) is required and will be checked at the door prior
to the start of the written exam. Failure to have this required ID will result in being ineligible to take
the written examination, your application being placed in the "dead file" and the hiring process to
cease immediately.
Reference books to study from for the written exam: “IFSTA Essentials of Firefighting, 4th Edition”
and “Brady Prentice Hall Pre-hospital Emergency Care, 10th Edition”.
Out of state paramedics and medics from the armed services are reminded that it is your
responsibility to contact Public Safety Services of the State of Ohio, Department of Education at
800-233-0785 to determine eligibility for reciprocity process. This process must be completed by the
date of employment.
This is the only written notification you will receive regarding the written examination for the
position of firefighter/paramedic with the Evendale Fire Department.
NOTE: It is important for you to understand that all applications will undergo a thorough review to
determine eligibility and if it is determined that your application is not eligible, you will be
notified that you CANNOT take the written examination.
