PLEASE NOTE: THE TAX DEPARTMENT WILL BE CLOSED THE WEEK OF MARCH 15th - MARCH 19th.  IF YOU HAVE A TAX QUESTION, OR NEED ASSISTANCE PREPARING YOUR TAX RETURN, PLEASE LEAVE A TELEPHONE MESSAGE FOR THE TAX DEPARTMENT, OR SEND AN E-MAIL TO THE TAX ADMINISTRATOR.  E-MAIL AND VOICE MESSAGES WILL BE CHECKED DAILY DURING THIS TIME.

NEW!! Please note that the 2009 Individual Income Tax Return, and the estimated tax form for individuals and businesses, will be available on our website as “fillable” forms.  The forms may not be submitted electronically; however, taxpayers may enter their tax information directly onto the on-line form, print the form, attach all required documentation, and mail the form to the Tax Department.

REMINDER A drop box is available so that taxpayers may deposit tax information after normal business hours. The drop box is securely situated in the lobby of the Police Department, and is located on the wall directly to the left of the entrance.  The Police Department lobby is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

DUE DATE In accordance with the Ohio Revised Code, the due date of municipal income tax return is the 15th day of the fourth month following the end of the tax year. The 2009 calendar year returns are due by APRIL 15th, 2010.

EXTENSIONS Requests to extend the due date for filing must be made in writing, and filed with the Evendale Tax Department by the original filing due date of the return.  A copy of the Federal Extension, received by the Evendale Tax Department by the original filing due date, is acceptable.  The extended due date shall be the last day of the month following the month to which the due date of the federal income tax return has been extended.  Requests for extension may be faxed to the Tax Department at (513) 563-4636.

FILING REQUIREMENTS All residents of the Village of Evendale are required to file a return each year. All non-residents are required to file if they performed work or provided services within the Village and had earnings that were not withheld on by the employer.  If tax was properly withheld on the wages of a non-resident by the employer, there is no filing requirement.  Retirees are not required to pay on their income from Social Security or income from federally qualified retirement plans.  Additionally, each business located or performing work and/or providing services within the Village is required to file.

PAYMENT   A payment may be made in the form of check, cash, money order, and credit card.  The Village of Evendale accepts MasterCard, VISA, and DISCOVER.  The required credit card information must be provided on the tax return. A separate signature authorizing payment by credit card is also required.  Do not send cash through the mail.  Payments for business income tax and withholding tax may be made through the Ohio Business Gateway.

REFUNDS   A tax return must be filed for the tax year to which the refund request applies.  The tax return must be completed and submitted along with all required documentation (see Miscellaneous forms & instructions for specific refund instructions for requesting a refund).  Taxpayers requesting a refund may chose to have the refund directly deposited into their savings or checking account.  The routing number and account number of the financial institution to which the refund will be deposited must be provided.

TAX RATE   The current tax rate is 1.2%.
