The Village of Evendale Police Officer Selection Process is a multi-phased procedure designed to be job-related and non-discriminatory. Applications will be accepted until 4:30pm October 16, 2009. The process consists of:
· Written Examination
· Physical Ability Test
· Police Oral Interview Panel
· Background Investigation
· Council Panel Interview
· Conditional Offer of Employment
Ø Psychological Examination
Ø Medical Examination
· Appointment as Police Officer
After the initial application has been submitted, application forms are screened to insure that the applicant meets the established minimum requirements. They are:
· U.S. Citizen
· 21 years of age
· Possess or are able to obtain a valid Ohio Driver’s License
· Completion of 60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours from an accredited college
Please be aware that the Police Department has a policy that prohibits tattoos that are or can be exposed while wearing any uniform.
Applicants are then invited to take a written examination. Applicants must pass the written examination with a minimum passing score of 70%. Applicants with a passing score are then invited to participate in the physical ability test. The physical ability test is pass/fail and applicants must pass all standards. Applicants passing both the written test and the physical test will then be scheduled for an interview before a police department panel. Top scoring candidates will be selected for a community/council interview and will under go a thorough background check.
Subsequent to the acceptance of a conditional job offer, the applicant must successfully complete a psychological examination, drug screening, and comprehensive physical examination.
A top-scoring candidate who has successfully completed these stages of the selection process is eligilbe to be appointed to the position of Police Officer and will serve a probationary period of one year. The entire selection process may take 90 days or more for completion.
