Gold Medal Products is the world leader in fun food. Started in 1931 by David C. Evans, after buying the Kings Ink Company, David Evans soon began manufacturing drink concentrates for the carnival and amusement park industry for beverages and Sno-Kones. By the late 1940s Gold Medal was a major shaved ice and popcorn machine producer eventually becoming one of the largest makers of popcorn machines and fun food. They are still family owned and operated and have distribution in almost 200 countries.

Dave Evans, Vice President of Purchasing, Facilities & Fleet Management for Gold Medal Products Co.

“The one-on-one relationships with Village officials cultivate a more personal environment to grow a business. In our previous locations, I really didn’t know anyone, but now I know Mayor Don Apking and his Administrative Assistant Jack Cameron. I know Police Chief Niel Korte and Fire Chief Michael K. Hauck, plus most of the Council members. Our company couldn’t find a better community to work and grow in.”

So-Low Environmental is a world leader in the manufacturing of laboratory and industrial refrigeration products. Our products range from -120°F ultra-low freezers to laboratory refrigerators. Started in 1959, the company relocated to Evendale in 1976. It is still family-owned and operated with products in over 120 countries.

Jim Schum, Vice President, So-Low Environmental

“Since our company has been in Evendale, we have had two major expansions. The first took place in 1999, and again in 2010. The initial expansion required purchasing an adjacent property. Working one on one with Evendale officials made this a smooth transaction. The 2010 expansion required us to work diligently with Jack Cameron and the Village Community Improvement Corporation to acquire a small plot of land that the Village owned. The result was a success, and beneficial to So-Low as well as the Evendale community. Our company has prospered here because of Evendale’s business friendly rapport and central location in the Cincinnati area.”
