Award Winning Watercolor Artists Gail Montag and Ginny Tilbury on exhibit October 21 - 23 at the Evendale Cultural Arts Center
The Evendale Cultural Arts Center proudly announces its forthcoming exhibition of award winning watercolor artwork by Gail Montag and Ginny Tilbury. The Opening Reception of the exhibit, welcoming the general public, will be held on Friday evening, October 21, 2016, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm in the Upper Art Studio of the Evendale Cultural Arts Center at 10500 Reading Rd., Evendale, OH.
Gail is from Cincinnati and studied at the University of Cincinnati in Graphic Design. She has studied with Ray Loos, Don Dennis, Jack Meanwell and Nita Leland. She is mostly inspired by nature, color interaction, lost and found edges and the endless surprises when using watercolor which is her preferred medium. Gail enjoys using acrylic to juxtapose a flat opaque area against a more transparent passage when possible and also texture with colored pencils, pastel, etc. She loves to experiment and after attending a contemporary quilt show with a friend began to paint using a "quilt style" format.
Ginny Tilbury is a native of Cincinnati and now resides in Batavia, Ohio. She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art Education from the University of Cincinnati’s college of Design, Art, Architecture and Planning, and taught art at the elementary level for several years in Clermont County, Ohio. Ginny is primarily a watercolor artist because she enjoys the quality of light and the spontaneity of the medium. Her inspiration may come from many different subjects but also from the painting process itself. She loves to let the colors mix on paper and watch what the medium will do. Her style is best described as a loose, energetic expression of what she sees and feels about her subject, as well as use of vivid color. She has a studio at the Pendleton Art Center in Cincinnati and also exhibits her paintings locally in several outdoor art shows, where she has received several awards for her work.
Gail Montag won Best in Show at the 2016 Evendale Fine Art Exhibit while Ginny won 2nd place at the 2014 Evendale Fine Art Exhibit.
