As nature comes alive with the arrival of April, it's our cue to shake off the winter chill and dive into the excitement of the season! We've rounded up a bunch of fun events and classes to add some color to your spring calendar. From clay creations to captivating performances, there's plenty to spark your creativity and keep you smiling all season long. ACRYLICS AND OIL PAINTING CLASS | Ages 18+

The Open Painting Studio is a space designed for artists of all skill levels to come together and work on their painting projects in a supportive and creative environment. Whether you are a beginner seeking guidance or an experienced painter looking for inspiration, this studio is the perfect place to nurture your artistic talents.

 




Individualized Art Instruction- Receive individualized art instruction from an internationally renown Fine Artist who studied locally at our very own University of Cincinnati. PAINT SPRING BIRDHOUSES | Fun for All Ages

This workshop will be held at the Bell Tower Arts Pavilion. Each person registered will take home 2 small birdhouses, one bird figurine, and a miniature nest. (Intended as indoor decoration only.) Choose acrylic paints and/or scrapbook paper & Mod Podge to decorate your birdhouses. Optional: mount one of two birdhouses onto a 4" glass candlestick for a more interesting visual appearance. All materials and instructions are included!

 


HANDBUILT POTTERY (ages 18+)

Join us at the Evendale Cultural Arts Center for a new pottery hand-building class! Whatever you can make on the pottery wheel you can make with hand-building techniques! This class will teach ways to make functional pottery using soft clay slabs, including mugs and steins, platters, bowls, vases, planters and more! We’ll cover processes for how to prepare, make, glaze and fire your work, and play with templates, forms and textures. Bring your imagination and learn about the wide world of hand-building to create keepsakes and pieces you can gift or keep and use in your own kitchen. Grace Markley-Reiter is a local self-taught potter who has been hand-building and teaching ceramics for more than 20 years. Learn more about Grace’s work here.

This six week course will help artists of all experience levels hone their skills in drawing the human figure from observation. Drawing supplies and paper is supplied but students are invited to bring their own materials if they please.

 


CRASH COURSE IN CLAY (ages 18+)

This six week course will introduce students into the basic techniques used in making both wheel thrown and hand-built ceramic pots. Class includes 25 lbs of clay, a 2 sq ft cubicle for storing your work, and up to 25 glazed pieces.
 


ECOCRAFT: EARTH DAY DRYER BALLS WORKSHOP (ages 18+)

Join us for an evening of sustainable crafting in celebration of Earth Day! In this two-hour workshop, you'll learn how to create your own eco-friendly dryer balls as a replacement for traditional dryer sheets. Using natural wool and needle felting techniques, you'll craft reusable dryer balls that are both practical and environmentally friendly. No prior crafting experience is necessary, as your knowledgeable instructor will guide you through the process step by step. All materials, including wool and needle felting tools, will be provided for student use. The balls will need to be finished at home in your washing machine and dryer. You should be able to make 3 or 4 in class. Come join us on Wednesday, April 17th, from 7 to 9 pm, and take home your own set of handmade dryer balls while supporting a greener planet!
