Councils Resolution Opposing The Gas Line Project

Dear Evendale Resident –

RE: DUKE ENERGY PROPOSED CENTRAL CORRIDOR GAS PIPELINE EXTENSION PROJECT

In February 2016, Evendale received notice from Duke Energy of the subject project.  The project involves construction of an underground 30” high pressure natural gas transmission line through several communities in Hamilton County.  Duke has submitted three proposed routes, including one through Evendale (see map on back), to the Ohio Power Siting Board (OPSB) but they have not yet submitted a formal application. Upon receipt of a formal application, the OPSB will conduct investigations and public hearings prior to rendering a decision on the final route.

Evendale was the first community to submit a written letter of opposition to the OPSB noting serious concerns regarding safety and the project’s potential negative impacts on property values and the environment. Last month, Evendale Village Council reaffirmed their opposition to the project in a Resolution (see enclosure).

The proposed pipeline is intended to transport natural gas at over 600 psi.  The line would require easements up to 50 feet wide resulting in the removal of trees, landscaping and any other structures/objects in the easement area.

Although Evendale opposes the project, the Village does not have the authority to stop it. While Village officials will continue to reassert objections to negative project impacts, Evendale encourages property owners to become fully informed on the project and to make opinions about it known to the OPSB. Several communities, including Sycamore Township, Blue Ash and Cincinnati have expressed similar concerns and opposition to the project.
